Street exhibition Miki Muster

This year marks 100 years since the birth of the pioneer of Slovenian comics and animated film Miki Muster, who was born in Murska Sobota. On this occasion, the Pomurski Muzej Murska Sobota on Slovenska ulica opened an exhibition about his life and work. The author of the exhibition is Metka Fujs, who prepared the exhibition and was also on display on the 70th anniversary of Zvitorepec, one of Muster’s most recognizable comic book heroes. A short conversation was first held at the Belmur Hotel, where the mayor of the Murska Sobota Municipal Council addressed the attendees, and the director of the Pomurski Muzej Branko Kerman presented Muster’s life. Approximate date of coin issue

The Bank of Slovenia is expected to issue a commemorative coin in November 2025 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miki Muster. The following will be issued:

  • 990,000 coins in the regular minting technique with a nominal value of 2 euros
  • 3,000 coins in the proof minting technique with a nominal value of 2 euros

My first published interview was a conversation with Miki Muster titled Slovenian Disney.

This year is particularly important for us, as it marks the anniversary of the birth of the great master of the ninth art – Miki Muster. Slovenian comics were long overshadowed by Croatian and Serbian comics, which Slovenian readers could only read in Croatian or Serbian, i.e. in their periodicals, because the first “Slovenian” weekly with comics, Majin strip, was only published in the early 1960s, and even then it was published in Serbian. Therefore, we can say that Zvitorepec is indeed the first such Slovenian publication to appear after the economic reform of 1965. This year, we will host a series of events related to comics and, in particular, to our legendary author Miki Muster.
