Rarely does anyone become a legend during their lifetime. Miki didn’t just do that, he did more! It became a concept. His comics about Zvitorepec (Trickster), Lakotnik (Hungerly) and Tardonja (Hardie), are already being read by the third generation, as well as picture books about Lupinica, Medvedek Neewa, Poslednji Mohikanec, … This July, 70 years have passed since the first publication of Zvitorepac (Trickster) and companions, and the comic is still popular. When someone mentions his name, we remember his TV commercials, calendars, posters, leaflets, logos and Mordillo’s cartoons… For 10 hours of cartoons, he drew over 36,000 frames, he drew about 40 picture books and 45 episodes of Zvitorepac, and caricatures, illustrations for books, textbooks… I have never experienced people thanking anyone so en masse for a beautiful youth as they did to Miki. Like a rock star, he was stopped and asked if they could shake his hand. He achieved that even in old age we feel the child in us.
