The National and University Library has prepared a publication of the Bibliography of Vignettes and Trailers by Miki Muster for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the comic book master, Do You Draw Miki Muster?, in conjunction with the major exhibition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the comic book master, A vi rišete Miki Muster?. The illustrated bibliography by authors Rok Glavan and Sam Kristan provides an overview of trailers and cover vignettes for comics and picture books by Miki Muster that were published in newspaper banners. The monograph represents that part of Muster’s creativity that remained hidden behind the characters themselves and their stories in comics.

Exhibition: 2 December 2025 – 25 April 2026, NUK Exhibition Hall

With the exhibition Do You Draw Miki Muster?, the National and University Library joins the events marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miki Muster (1925–2018), a popular creator of Slovenian comics and an exceptional illustrator who has left a mark on several generations of readers and viewers.

We present selected materials from the rich library collections of the NUK and an exceptional donation from Ciril Gale, a long-time publisher and expert on Muster’s work. Visitors can admire Muster’s comic classics – Trickster, Hardie, and Hungerly, which have become part of our collective memory, as well as rare publications, book illustrations and original drawings that reveal the author’s mastery, creative bread...

On November 26, 2025, the Bank of Slovenia will issue commemorative coins for sale and circulation on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miki Muster.

The coin can be purchased at the Bank of Slovenia or at Deželna banka.

In November, the central exhibition space of the Velenje Library will host an exhibition about Miki Muster, an artist who became a true legend during his lifetime. Who doesn’t know his comic book heroes Trickster, Hardie and Hungerly? In addition, he created a multitude of characters that have become part of our collective consciousness.

In the glass bookcases, his son and granddaughter, Miklavž and Maša, are presented as readers of the month. This time, these two of our exhibitions are joining hands, and you are invited to visit both.

The author of the exhibitions is Stanka Ledinek.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM, we invite you to the Oton Župančič Library (3rd floor), where a round table on the topic of The Work and Character of Miki Muster will be held. The round table guests will be Janez Grm, Iztok Sitar and Žiga Valentič.

On the 100th anniversary of the birth of the father of Slovenian comics, researchers of this medium will talk about his characters, the importance of his comics in the past and today, the circumstances of their creation and changes over time...

Exhibition: Ljubljana City Museum from October 22, 2025 to February 22, 2026 (opening at 7:00 PM)

With selected photo documents and objects, the exhibition will bring to life the time when the whole world came to life in Ljubljana with cartoons, commercials and film.

Miki Muster was an academic sculptor, yet he created only a few sculptures. From his teenage years onward, he dreamed of making animated films. To achieve this, he became an illustrator with an unstoppable passion, mastering all the secrets of animation as a self-taught artist, so that his cartoon characters could come to life on Slovenian television (we only need to recall the lively trio of rabbits from the television trailer Cikcak)...
